Tell us about your family
Meet the Born Family! Tyler & Janae are life long Riponites. These high-school sweethearts started dating as kids and now have three crusher kids; Trevor (13), Tytus (11) and Addison (9). Tyler is a firefighter in Modesto and Janae is a stay-at-home mom and home schools the kids.
tell us about your climbing background
Tyler was introduced to climbing 13 years ago by a friend in Joshua Tree National Park. They climbed for years and ultimately had a long break. Once Alpine opened, they were psyched to start climbing again and have their first indoor gym experience.
why did you join alpine?
It was a great way for us to get together as a family! We can pursue our own climbing goals individually but we can also do it as a family. We didn’t know this when we joined, but one of our favorite things are all the people we’ve had a chance to get to know. Its such an encouraging environment.
what advice would you give to a new climber?
If you think you’re not going to be good at this, keep coming and challenging yourself. We all started at the lowest grades and have worked out way up. You’re going to have fun and workout at the same time!
