TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
Meet Maggie! She lives in Merced, California with her husband Pat and their 15-month-old daughter. Between parenting and her role as an assistant professor at UC Merced, life is full—but she still makes time for climbing adventures and community connection.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CLIMBING BACKGROUND
Maggie started climbing about 10 years ago. Her journey began with casual trips to Joshua Tree and Red Rocks during grad school, but it wasn’t until she moved to Germany that climbing really took off. With no waves to surf, she found herself in climbing gyms and on outdoor rock, and she’s been hooked ever since!

WHY DID YOU JOIN ALPINE?
Alpine felt like home from the start. Maggie and her husband drive an hour just to be part of the community here. The welcoming vibe, strong friendships, and supportive atmosphere make it worth every mile. “Climbing keeps us grounded,” she says, “and Alpine helps us stay connected.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW CLIMBER?
“Don’t be afraid to start slow,” Maggie says. “You’re stronger than you think, and the climbing community is here to support you. Keep trying, push yourself, and enjoy the journey—inside and outside.”
