Tell us about your family
Meet Dutch! He grew up in Missouri working on his family’s farm. After graduating high school, he started traveling doing carpentry and now currently is a manager at Tesla.
tell us about your climbing background
Dutch has always been active. He was a body builder in college and grew a love for the gym. During COVID, he did not have the same outlet as he once did. He saw Alpine being built and within the first months of opening he got a membership. He wanted to give climbing a shot. He fell in love with the slow progression of climbing and how it utilizes your problem solving skills.
why did you join alpine?
Dutch loves the community at Alpine. He enjoys how friendly everyone is and how the community is always willing to help with problems you might encounter during a climbing session. The people at Alpine. encourage everyone to be healthier and happier.
what advice would you give to a new climber?
Dutch would encourage a new climber to keep trying your problem. Every time you set your mind to the problem you will learn something new about how to solve it. “There’s only three sports, motor racing, bull fighting and mountaineering, the rest are just games.”
